Maritiman: like a ship graveyard, where this group of boat enthusiasts bought over old boats, refurbished them and moored them to the side of the river, and transformed it into a museum. They have about 16 ships but only 10 or so that you can board to walk about.


the first one is really weird, the ship is mostly underwater, with a little bit sticking out. Link here. Was once used in war, because its hard to detect by sight. These pics are what it looks like inside i.e. underwater




Next is No.29 light boat. built in 1914, during the world wars, it was stationed in very friendly waters, for obvious reasons.

this is a ship with a huge crane on it, able to haul 15 tons, to salvage other ships. built in 1942

This is a patrol boat, also used for submarine hunting and laying mines. The tracks on the deck are used to drop stuff overboard, like mines.

Fire boat, boat that puts out fires, like for example if a lighthouse boat catches fire. hhahaha. the canons can shoot water 90 meters away at a rate of 6000 liters a minute. no wonder earth running out of water.

the biggest display is a warship, HMS Smålånd, after a geographical area in Sweden. Its the last Swedish destroyer, built after WWII. There is about 8 different layers or levels on the ship to explore. Freaking huge and I almost got lost coz every other corner looks like the last one.

I felt this floating museum is just amazing because you get to board and walk around ships you normally would only see on TV or see pictures of, especially the destroyer and submarine. you can knock the dials, feel the gun barrels, ring the bell, basically do what you want. The others are also fun because they are weird like the fireboat and the light boat. I totally recommend going to Göteborg just to see this place.
