while at sentosa, they had a flower feast. took some pics. really need to shoot more. sigh. some of the pics really dissapointing. check this site out, much better pics. and must go photoshoot alone. parents keep on asking whats next....

went to sentosa during chinese new year coz have not been there for ages (years) and parents also want to go see how its like now. watched the 'songs of the sea' at 740pm. the gates opened almost an hour before the show. so we sat around wondering. teh show was not bad. maybe will upload some vids later. here are some shots with my cam.

the show is a water, lights, sound, pryo show. its about a group of friends singing at the beach and there was this hero that had a super nice voice and by his magical singing, he woke up the powers of fire, water, wind, and some princess amy, whom he seemed to like very much.
the interesting thing about it all was that the guy's name is Lee.
now i wonder why of all the nice chinese surnames available, the scriptwriters had to choose that...

thisis oscar the 'guide' of the whole show who leads Lee to the next level. ugly fish that has buck teeth.

fireballs

water spirit? cant remember

oscars companions.

pryos at teh end. very nice. can feel the heat.

walking out of the place to the cable car station, passed by the observation tower. nice.

waited one freakin hour for the cable car!!! queue super long

coming into harbourfront from sentosa. camera shake!!! ughs..

playing with my 40D and took these pictures. cut them to 30% of its original size and downsampled it.
at its original size, you could see the difference between a picture taken at iso 100, 400, 800, 1250 and 3200. but after resampling, the pics below look the same except when you bump it up to iso 1600 and 3200. so the conclusion for part one is if its for web posting, iso1250 is still acceptable but for zooming in and close scrutiny, you can really see the difference with each increasing iso step.

iso 200

iso 400

iso 3200

next, i cut out a tiny portion from the original pictures to see the fine details when cropped. its obvious that noise is introduced at every iso increase. i find that iso1600 is still generally usable. but in tight situations, even 3200 is acceptable, even though the noise is horrid. better a grainy and noisy clear picture versus a blured out sharp one - or no picture at all.

bought a new webcam coz my old 320x160 one really sucks. so decided to go 'atas' aka singlish lingo for something expensive or top class. got myself a Microsoft Livecam nx-6000. Full 2.0Megapixels of camera and supposedly 7.2 megapix of still image (interlaced) but all i want is the video function. delicious

got it from ebay for S$90
outside selling for almost double that amount
and this is brand new. still in box. and realized that the guy selling it was a previous colleague. so no problems with authenticity.

it even comes with its own little carrying case. the camera can be opened and closed like a pen. click open and click close. cool.

a picture taken from video feed at full 2.0megapix resolution. looks great!, erm, the picture, not the lazy looking model.
