666 armies!!
Armageddon

got this from Jeanie's blog. quite good, but got to play a few times to get everything they are trying to say, else the voice is very halting because they cut and paste all over the place.

subscribed to a magazine and they had some lucky draw thingy and i won a travel book. too bad i dont intend to visit myanmar anytime soon. would probably sell it off for a few bucks. anyone interested? brand new. have not read it, just flipped through the pictures, but really no interest in going there.

my tenant's mum came from china to visit red dot and brought me some tid bits. used to eat tons of this as a kid. but they were never this big, or well wrapped. i wonder if they are all in different flavours.

ahhhh.... kids singing and acting. very heartwarming.

monkeys doing math now.

Pics from my trip to Orchard road last week in the evening to view the Christmas light up. wanted to both see the lights and test my photographic skills in low light condition. the ok shots are here. the ton of bad shots are in my recycle bin.

Tangs

Tangs

Tangs. the silhouette travels from right to left, showing pictures of the wise men, Shepards, and some other figures. quite cool to watch, but hard to take a pic because of the glass reflection.

Tangs, theres a round turning thing at the back and some blue/orange light that acts like a star.

Tangs, BTW, the owner of Tangs is a Christian, hence all the bible verses.

Some weird harp thingy that changes colours.

went to orchard road the other day to watch the lights. caught this vid from the bus while traveling down the road. not bad la... but not the best i've seen.

i thought this would be easy. getting a whole lot of wrappers and linking them together to get the whole series. but realized that some of the pictures repeat in the series in different parts so that the neighbour comic is different. take a closer look and you'll understnad what i mean.

FairPrice supermarket really opening up. If I tiptoe, can see cans of milo being stacked up! woo hoo....
didnt know i would be so excited over a supermarket.
oh yeah, and i've never tried A1 chicken curry paste or a parking lot. will look out for the former and not the latter.

Was with this bunch of people last week. Havent seen them since almost a year ago. This is the core of my Varsity Christian Fellowship group in my hostel, Prince George's Park, in NUS. Super fun people to be with and just yak and yak. We used to have bible study that lasted till 1am because it was a big debate each time. Everybody enjoyed it of course, and after so long ago, they're still so much joy to be with. Amongst us there's a doctor, a missionary in training, computer geeks, economists, air stewardess, computer game designer, and life science researchers. wow. Planning to meet up during Christmas again.
Yep, Christmas is all about meeting up, remember the shepherds, wisemen, and even sheep and angels, all met up in this little place. I'm sure they had a jolly good time like I did too.

feeling quite sad to be human now....
got to check out the video especially.

Was at pasir panjang ferry terminal last week hoping the rainclouds would clear soon.

lots of transport ferries, wonder where they are all going

getting off the ferry when i reached the destination:

went to semakau island at the south of singapore, the trash island of the nation. garbage gets incinerated (heat generated used to make electricity) and the bulk reduced by 90% into ash. Ash is transported out to this offshore island to be dumped into artificial lagoons manmade.

thisis where the barges carrying the ash arrive on the island, inside are cranes to scoop out the ash into dump trucks which would go around the island to dump into lagoons.see video 1.

next to the island are bunches of transplanted mangroves. dual purpose: to act as a detection system for leaks in the bunds, and secondly to appease the tree huggers.

At the southernmost part, is the 80m gap that allows seawater to enter the lagoon, so as to not make the water stale. there is a row of floaters known as the golden chain, that keeps out boats because fishing in the lagoon has good returns (i wonder how the guards knew that....). compare the currents inside the lagoon (left) to that of the open sea (right). see video 2.

You are here.

view from the southern point looking to sea. further is Indonesia.

Looking at the calm lagoon. this could almost be converted into a resort.

The government linked supermarket chain opening one outlet about 250m away from my flat! yay! no need to take a bus to some nearby areas to do my shopping now. and can go down anytime i want to just buy one item. no need to purposely allocate one day just to do shopping.
Oh yeah, its located beneath a 10 story multi-level car park.

with all the merrymaking and shopping and eating going on as Christmas and the new year comes round the corner, please dont forget those who are in need of help just to get a meal a day.
