I took the newly launched Air Asia X from London to K Lumpur. Two ways cost me 260 pounds. Which is dirt cheap.
At the airport in London, saw this interesting shop that lets you weigh your bags for a cost, just in case you go overweight, you can repack your bags beforehand. quite thoughtful way of making money.

the waiting hall

the plane, which is leased from Canadian Air

no LCDs, but this new Malaysia Teknologi is for extra passenger comfort.

here, a beautiful model demonstrates how to use this innovative soothing device for those long hours in the air.

but frankly, the legroom is very good, better then KLM, and comparable to SIA

of course, since its budget, everything got to buy, even water. all at extortionist rates.

proof that the plane does not belong to air asia but to Canadian air.

Take off!

nasi bryiani. spicy!! felt so much at home witht he first mouth. after the meal time, the stewardess sprayed the whole cabin with air freshener. haha. all the kari smell.

some ang moh boh pai seh one leh, take the whole row and show smelly leg at the poor asian kid at the end of the row.

meal #2, nasi lemak. i'm feeling hungry now as i blog this as no way you can find nasi lemak here.

arriving in KL, we had to make a circuit, obvious from teh vapor trails. but landing was still on time and very smooth. I found that the trip was very plesant and of course, after 13 hours in a seat you get cramps, but I felt the plane was clean, and for the price I paid, it was a steal. I totally will fly it again next time.

oil palm estate

flaps up and engines reversed.

had to walk from the plane to the arrival hall in KL. Got hit by the humidity first thing out of the door. Welcome home.

on the way back to UK after the 3 weeks in Asia, we passed by some snow capped mountains that the pilot pointed out. really cant remember what the name is already.

powerfull oven!

back in UK. Suddenly someone turned on the air cond outside the plane.

one thing that i liked about the army museum is the amount of work gone into it to produce lifelike figurines. not just the large ones, but also the tiny ones.

thats my big fat finger for scale.

lots of models too. this one is a canon making facility.

peep through the door. its so real.

life size figures are plenty. and they are placed in strategic locations, like just behind a blind door.

exits are also decorated, here, like an old fortress.

one small unused corner? put a figure there. nevermind if he doesnt have hands or legs.

point blank

how the camp looked like

you better not miss

gallant cavalry

as punishment in the old army, you get to sit on this.

yes i know, ouch.

this guy is going to lose his hands one day when the gun accidentally goes off.

the state of the art in science is found always in war where the technologically superior side has an unfair advantage over the adversary. but in the science of war, there is always the art of war. why decorate a piece of killing instrument so finely? by doing that does it empower its user or does it become more threatening to the enemy. i doubt they will ever come close enough to scrutinize the handle of your gun to be terrified.

war banners. i now understand why banners are so important. they are specially commissioned by the king to be made and are very expensive. when a war is won or lost, the banner changes hands. its like a war trophy. so the winning king gets to keep his rivals' flag and boast about it hundreds of years later. each banner is for one war, and each has its own symbolism behind it.

testing the guns and the bullets it shoots through wood, metal and pastic

some proud king has his name on every gun.

heavy metal

choose love, not war. the kid is real, the two adults are not.

missile head. i think thats quite large.

very intricate. i dont know why they spent so much time doing this when they could do somethign more meaningful, like bake a cake or catch a fish, maybe because cakes and fish dont last 200 years.

not an easy instrument to navigate

napolean's new fashion for his generals. supposed to make them look more man. well, he did lose in the end.
