i only got the photos on wednesday, 19 March
so, from the time of photo order on 11 march, it took them 8 days to get it into my letterbox.
if i went down to the shop, paid 25 cents per piece, it would be done in 1 hour, on real photo paper.
thats not the worst part
this is: the photos suck
saturation, gamma, colour
everything is wrong. the pictures look terrible especially skin tones
and the paper is so flimsy
has a cheap magazine cover feel.
its like those photo A4 papers you buy on the shelf and print your own pictures with a low resolution bubblejet printer.
once bitten forever shy.

2 or 3 days ago, i was cycling back home when a stack of plastic caught my eye on one of the benches near my flat's lift. so i went to investigate and it turned out to be a stack of cd's. classical, and rock. i took the classicals.
to whoever left it there, thanks. much appreciated dose of relaxing music.

bought for mum back in kl.
can you believe it, in this modern age and time, that my mum still uses an external 36.6k modem... or was it 33.6k... whatever.
reason being she just comes online like 20 minutes once or twice a week, so its totally unjustified as to why she should get broadband.
this will be so revolutionary for her!
v.90 56kbps 3Com modem!!!
woo hooo
bought for S$10. the unit supposedly used before but the power plug, and other wires totally unopened in their bags.
good buy imho.
now to find a telephone line to test it out...

has this superfat heatsink and fan on top to keep it cool, or at least bearable.
can almost see the chipset legs under the heatsink here:

started to buy parts to assemble a new desktop as a replacement for my present AMD Athlon 3000+ single core, 1gb ram ddr400, nForce4 chipset desktop.
first up, new hard disk.
seagate 7200.11 750Gb Sata II with 32Mb cache.
Retail price: $288, bought for $245 from a 'third party'. International warranty till 2012.
made in singapore.
most of the seagates now are from China or Thailand. i prefer to go local because supposedly the local sets have higher QC but those sets are getting rare, so this is a kind of gem.
this one comes with new firmware. there was some trouble with the old SD14 firmware on older sets, so i'm not affected. link here.
there are also lots of reviews touting the new Western Digital HD's as superior to others for models from 1 tetrabyte onwards. review here.
whatever it is, 750 is a massive amount, bought it because of the gigs of pictures and movies i collected over the years. this should keep me happy for awhile.

Dear Voters,
Don't let it happen again. Don't let it make us look at ourselves and say, 'I shouldn't have voted them back in.'
Don't just think of business but instead lay the groundwork for a better, more just government who can better guarantee a future for your children.
If you need reminding of what this federal government has been about to you and everyone else, think of these:
1. Altantuya Shaaribuu murder case
2. V.K. Lingam, Eusuff Chin and Vincent Tan - sounds like me and looks like me
3. Najib, helicopters, C4 explosives etc and of course his wife
4. Khairy Jamaluddin, ECM Libra, Ethos Consulting, UMNO Youth
5. Hishamuddin Hussein, keris waving
6. Samy Vellu, PLUS highways & MRR2 flyover scandal
7. Rafidah Aziz, APs, NAZA cars
8. Mahathir, convenient forgetfulness
9. Body snatchers, forced conversions, tearing down of churches, temples etc
10. MCA, Kampar, TAR University, Ling Liong Sik, Ong Ka Ting, Ong Ka Chuan
11. Maybank, law firms, Malay majority
12. IGP, corruption, ACA, acquittal
13. Eric Chia, corruption, ACA, acquittal
14. Former ACA Director Zulkipli Mat Noor corruption allegations, acquittal
15. 4.6 billion Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) bailout scandal - Ling Liong Sik, Chan Kong Choy
16. PPRT for the hardcore poor in Kelantan scandal - Annuar Musa
17. Sukhoi fighter jet scandal - Najib

19. Purchase of AirBus VIP jet & leisure yacht - The sleeping PM, Pak Lah
20. MAS scandal - Tajuddin Ramli
21. UEM scandal - Halim Saad & Renong
22. Corruption ranking - Malaysia heading South, No 50 in TI CPI 2007

was watching Tony Bourdain's 'A Cook's Tour' and it was the French Laundry episode. never heard of that dining place before and that 20 minute show really blew my mind. chef Thomas Keller was really down to earth and creative in his menus. did abit of googling and in the end, i think i got to try out that place one day, although got to save up the USD240 for the 9 course tasting menu (not including 19% tax), which are actually really artistic signature pieces and you would finish in two mouths.
well, one more thing to do before i die...
