just got World in Conflict. a real time strategy game where you control US forces to kick out the invading Russian enemy that came to US shores. The reason i got it is purely to test my PC's graphics capabilites. and i have not been dissapointed. played it on 'easy' mode just to gawk at the graphics and its really quite realistic, especially when the camera is zoomed to the max. the benchmarking was not so impressive though, a low of 25 fps? thats crap for a 9600gt IMHO.
here's a screenshot of the gameplay, by the 4th or 5th mission, i couldnt control the troops enough and had to cheat my units to attain 'god mode' i.e. invincibility. then sat back and enojoyed the fireworks. the graphics is really quite amazing. especially the clouds and water reflection. the explosions were also quite nice, with white and black plumes rising up quickly and settling down slowly.
am really starting to wonder how those gamers manage to control individually so many units fighting at various points in the map all at the same time. once you concentrate on one batch of troops, its almost impossible to forsake them for another because the enemy keeps on coming back to get you.
