the uni now has this deal with teh national heritage board to allow its students in for free into some museums. so i decided to go to the asian civ museum last week.
before that, took a hearty meal of curry chicken with sugar cane juice.
the building is an old colonial building that was some government office block for some high ranking officials. they refurbished it to put in the exhibits, and some of the architecture was pretty impressive. although i must say i didnt like the space that they wasted. seemed that there was too much empty space.
the entrance
some metl drum
oops
some candle or knick knack holder
the south east asian part
wonder how many burtal murders were accomplished with this thing.
retro shoes
groovy caps
ancient malay canon
the shirts were really huge, i wonder how they ever got around in them
maybe ancient peopel were giants.
there were lots of these little corners that had videos that tell a story of how certain art forms were done, or why certain celebrations were held. overall quite interesting and infomative.
some islamic sripts that were made of tiny scripts in themselves. found it very creative.
clay houses for deco.
all the exhibits had these little ligths that brightened up the subjects. found them very cute and sensible. they really look like miniature theatre lights.
teh special exhibit. they actually stole some stuf from the regular exhibit to put them in here.
mother or pearl jewel box.
another section of the museum. these are keris, an olden day malay weapon
belt buckles. long ago people must had had huge pants to need such a size buckle
brooches.

supreme court. the railings by the side are for lights for the formula 1 race in town in september. they are going to have a night race and for safety reasons, have to make the whole track 'as bright as day'. then why not have it in the daytime instead in the first place??
supposedly having it at night in asia means that people in america and europe can watch it at a more earthly hour for them.
after that went for dinner at a chicken rice shop but didnt order chicken rice. this is pork chop, supposedly famous, but i think it sucks.
the tofu was good. very soft inside.
fried minced meat roll. dont know its proper name in english. not bad.
all in an afternoon's worth.
