just too many things to put here, so most are self explanatory, and i'm generally happier with night shots than day ones
colosseum
piazza republica
arch of constantine
colosseum
'
some grave and castle for a lady
relic: footprints of jesus in marble

river tiber
michelangelo's crucifixion of peter
first stained glass in rome. nothing great
piazza popolo
some church, after so many you lose track and the beauty becomes the norm
trevi fountain
pantheon
trevi fountain by night
some church
some pillar outside the chruch- notice the starburst
inside that same church
nice creepers.
piazza republica in the day. looks better at night, yeah?
weird shape for a church entrance. concave and no dome.
inside that church
via sacra. the road leading to the roman forum
remains of an aquaduct.
another part of the aquaduct being built over by a nearby church, so the two structures fused.
st clemente, with an underground chruch. actually the church underground was ground level last time but somehow the level rose and the new church was build on top of the old and ppl actually forgot there was an underground church until someone started digging and found out. under the chruch is a pagan temple. so its super deep under. very cool.
'decorated' metro
piazza republica by night. very nice.

Yes guys, I have proposed to my lovely girlfriend, and fortunately she said Yes. So, this is how it happened:
Was in Rome holidaying with her, and I first found a park, heart shaped and with a lake right in the middle of it. Center of my heart heh?
The view from teh park was quite good, setting the mood, but lots of people walking around, so had to find somewhere quieter.
Found the lake and besides it there was a dilapidated looking tree stump. Made her sit on it with the pretense that I wanted to take a pic of her with the lake in the background. Actually I did take the picture in the end, so it isnt a lie.
When she was grumpily sitting on the stump, I went on my knees, said some stuff, and fumbled my pockets for the ring. The glitter was too much for her and she said yes. So I put it out of my pocket onto her finger. Watch it glitter in the sun! Bling bling!
So she's officially mine, hands off you guys!
more downside up lights. very diff view from the bottom
the tapestry room, from france i think. the light in the middle is made to match the light shape in the tapestry. they also hold civil weddings here. there are 2 versions, short and long, the short takes 30 seconds, and the long 3 minutes. i think dont even have time to kiss the bride, just sign and leave.
lights
the mural room. some prince painted it. very painstakingly as the this sort of painting requires you to splash paint on the wall and paint it before it dries up. if it dries and you find the picture unsatisfactory, you have to scrape off the entire wall plaster and replaster it. so he took almost forever. the painted each panel to show what then could be seen outside the windows on the other side of the long room, so that guests anywhere can enjoy a view.
light on a mirror, giving the illusion its a full light instead of half. either out of creativity or budget.
the entire side of the mural room
another one
dunno what room
replacement curtains that were made in china (the originals were too tattered), and people speculate that because of that, the faces look like chinese, but after scutiny, they are exactly the same as the originals.
to the gold room
gold room in its full glory
bad planning: miscalculated the height of the room and the last mural on top lost his head. so the designer twisted his story to say that was king Erik who got beheaded by the enemy.

some one very free.

lovely day to get out
To the city hall, Stadhusset, for a free tour as one of my friend's friend works as a tour guide. its good to have friends.
first hall, the blue hall. not blue but the walls supposed to be plastered blue, the desinger changed his mind at the end because the bricks were very nice, but eveyrbody came to know the hall as blue hall since its int eh plans, so he decided to leave the name as it is. This is where the nobel dinner is held ( the nobel prize is held in the theatre)
special stairs. the designer made many staircases of wood of different heights and size and made his wife test out climbing up and down to find the perfect dimensions for ease of women wearing heels and flowing dresses to climb up and down. This is the result.
notice it tapers of at the end. this is supposedly good to avoid you stepping on your own train.
bottom's up light
view from a window
the chamber room where the local city representatives meet once every 3 weeks. the ceiling is an upside down viking boat and the blue is symbolic of the openness of the discussion there. whatever can be said here should be able to be relayed to the public. there is a viewing gallery at one end for press, and another one at the other end for anybody who is interested. too bad not in english.
the tourguide
the speakers spot in the middle, having a special canopy that supposedly enhances the audio clarity. many says it makes the room look like a king's room
strictly no left hands to be placed on this chair!
The tower block, made to be 106 meters, as the tower in denmark completed slightly earlier was 105.5 m. talk about petty rivalry.
